About Me
Hi! I am Jenna. I grew up and currently live and work in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. I initially started this blog in an effort to keep my family and friends updated on my adventures while working in Ireland over the summer of 2009. The blogging experience reminded me how much I love to write, so I decided to continue once I returned home.
My Work & Education
I am an independent software engineering consultant focusing on agile development for Java shops. I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and a Master of Science in Software Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
My Passions
Software engineering is both a hobby and a profession for me. I am a passionate Java developer who enjoys getting other engineers excited about the technology and the business. I am experienced in mentoring and coaching development teams. I strive to promote software design and implementation best practices among my team and am a strong advocate for automated testing. My current learning interests include working effectively with remote teams, user experience, mobile development, and programming language features.
I am also a “new” photographer. I have always enjoyed being behind the camera and capturing the fun my friends and I were having. Now, I have decided that I need a new hobby and it will be photography! It is something that provides me a unique challenge, with a little bit of science behind it (something I’m good at) and a need of artistic ability (something which I lack). I’m lucky enough to have friends and family who let me practice on them.
